American Association for Paralegal Education (AAfPE)

American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants
The American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the professional advancement of registered nurses practicing in a consulting capacity in the legal field. Founded in 1989, AALNC serves as a resource to its members and provides a forum for education and the exchange of information.

Association of Legal Administrators (ALA)
The Association of Legal Administrators is a dynamic, growing organization that exists to provide a wealth of resources for its members. For 28 years ALA has supported legal managers as they face the joys and challenges of their careers. Today, the association has grown to more than 9,000 members in more than 20 countries.

International Paralegal Management Association (IPMA)
The International Paralegal Management Association was established in 1984 as the Legal Assistant Management Association. It is an international association of managers of paralegal programs in law firms, corporate legal departments and government, and judicial and legal agencies.

NALS…the association for legal professionals
Formed in 1929 in Long Beach, California, and incorporated in 1949 as NALS, we have been the premier association for legal professionals for nearly 75 years. NALS offers members of the legal services industry education, certifications, and career enhancement opportunities through programs and conferences designed for the legal services industry.

National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA)
The National Association of Legal Assistants is the leading professional association for legal assistants and paralegals, providing continuing education and professional development programs. Incorporated in 1975, NALA is an integral part of the legal community, working to improve the quality and effectiveness of the delivery of legal services. NALA is composed of over 18,000 paralegals, through individual members and through its 90 state and local affiliated associations.

National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA)
National Federation of Paralegal Associations, Inc. (NFPA) is a professional organization of state and local paralegal associations. NFPA has member associations representing over 17,000 North American paralegals. Members benefit from a strong communications network among member associations and the opportunity to be heard at the national level.


International Canadian Association of Paralegals
The Canadian Association of Paralegals (CAP) was incorporated under Part II of the Canada Corporations Act by Letters Patent granted on May 22, 1980 and is a national association of paralegals. CAP’s mission is to provide an information and communication network for paralegals and to promote the paralegal profession within Canada. The directors and officers of CAP are experienced paralegals who hold positions in law firms, private businesses and public corporations in Canada.

Alabama AALS
We are committed to the delivery of quality legal services through continuing education and increased professionalism, promoting a standard for members and recognition in the legal profession through the certification program and providing networking opportunities for members.

Alabama Association of Paralegals, Inc. (AAPI)
The Alabama Association of Paralegals, Inc. (formerly known as Alabama Association of Legal Assistants) is a statewide professional association for legal assistants throughout Alabama. As an affiliate of NALA, the organization promotes NALA’s aims. AAPI offers a variety of benefits, educational programs and networking opportunities to members.


Alaska Alaska Legal Secretaries Association (ALSA)
Anchorage Legal Secretaries Association, a chartered chapter of NALS, is a professional organization dedicated to upgrading the knowledge and efficiency of legal personnel. In addition to stressing continuing legal education, the organization strives to promote a high standard of ethics among its members and cooperates with the judiciary and bar in maintaining high professional standards.

Arizona

Arizona Paralegal Association (APA)
The Arizona Paralegal Association ("APA") was formed in 1977 and is a nonprofit professional corporation for legal assistants. The APA became an affiliate association of the National Association of Legal Assistants, Inc. in 1988. Our membership is currently near 400.

Legal Support Professionals of Arizona (LSPA)
The Legal Support Professionals of Arizona ("LSPA") was chartered in 1967 and is part of NALS, Inc. There are local chapters throughout the state of Arizona making LSPA part of a tri-level association.

Maricopa County Bar Association Paralegal Division
The Maricopa County Bar Association Paralegal Division, located in Phoenix, Arizona, was founded in 1998 as the MCBA Paralegal Committee. On January 1, 2002, we became a division of the MCBA and are currently the only Paralegal Division of a county bar association and the only Paralegal Division of any bar association to hold a voting seat on the bar’s Board of Directors. Our 280-plus members are among the most diverse, accomplished and dynamic paralegal professionals in the country.

Tucson Association of Legal Assistants (TALA)
The Tucson Association of Legal Assistants is a non-profit organization offering educational opportunities and a common network for the professional legal assistants and paralegals in Tucson and throughout the state. TALA is affiliated with the National Associations of Legal Assistants.


California California Alliance of Paralegal Associations (CAPA)
CAPA is a statewide non-profit, mutual benefit corporation dedicated to the advancement of the paralegal profession and the proposition that paralegals gain strength through alliance. CAPA supports, encourages, and promotes an active relationship among its affiliated member associations, attorneys, national, state and local Bar Associations, and others in the legal community.

Los Angeles Paralegal Association (LAPA)
The 1,000-member Los Angeles Paralegal Association was formed in 1972 by local paralegals in response to the growing need for an organized professional association throughout the Greater Los Angeles Metropolitan Region. LAPA was incorporated in October 1977 as a California non-profit mutual benefit corporation.

NALS of California
NALS of California was chartered July 8, 1982, and is part of a nationally-affiliated tri-level professional organization composed of NALS, NALS of California, and locally-chartered chapters throughout the state. We are a nonunion, nonpartisan, nonsectarian, and nonprofit association for persons employed in the legal field.

Orange County Paralegal Association (OCPA)
The Orange County Paralegal Association (OCPA) was formed in 1977 in response to a growing need for an organized professional association for paralegals. Originally formed as a section of the Orange County Bar Association, OCPA became an independent, voluntary, non-profit corporation in 1986 for paralegals interested in furthering their professional development.

Paralegal Association of Santa Clara County (PASCCO)
Founded in 1978, PASCCO is a professional and educational organization for legal assistants. The majority of members are paralegals employed by Santa Clara County law firms, corporations, and governmental agencies.

Sacramento Valley Paralegal Association (SVPA)
The Sacramento Valley Paralegal Association (formerly the Sacramento Association of Legal Assistants) was founded in 1978 as a professional and educational organization for paralegals, and was incorporated in 1981 under the California Nonprofit Mutual Benefit Corporation laws.

San Diego Paralegal Association (SDPA)
Founded in 1977 and originally called the San Diego Association of Legal Assistants (SDALA), SDPA changed its name in 2000. SDPA was founded as a professional organization for paralegals working in San Diego.

San Francisco Paralegal Association (SFPA)
The San Francisco Paralegal Association (SFPA) is a non-profit organization comprised of individual members. The purposes are to represent the paralegal profession as an independent, self-directed profession, to enable paralegals to enhance their professional development and to support the expansion of the delivery of legal services in an economic and efficient manner.


Colorado Colorado Association of Professional Paralegals and Legal Assistants (CAPPLA)
Colorado Association of Professional Paralegals and Legal Assistants is a new paralegal organization that has been formed in the Denver Metro area. CAPPLA will be an affiliate of the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) within the next few months.

Rocky Mountain Paralegal Association (RMPA)
Rocky Mountain Paralegal Association (formerly Rocky Mountain Legal Assistants Association) was formed on October 2, 1973, to organize and promote the paralegal profession in the Rocky Mountain area. RMPA has grown to over 400 members and has become a major part of the legal community.


Connecticut Central Connecticut Paralegal Association (CCPA)
Central Connecticut Paralegal Association, Inc. (CCPA) was incorporated as a non-profit organization in November, 1982. Originally formed as the Greater Hartford Chapter of the Connecticut Association of Paralegals in 1979, the membership, consisting mainly of paralegals in the Greater Hartford area, soon grew to over one hundred.

Connecticut Association of Paralegals (CAP)
The Connecticut Association of Paralegals ("CAP") was formed in 1975 by a group of students enrolled in the Legal Assistant Program at Sacred Heart University who recognized the need for an association dedicated to their own profession.

New Haven County Association of Paralegals (NH-CAP)
New Haven County Association of Paralegals (NH-CAP) was organized in 1980. It is a non-profit professional organization for paralegals.


Delaware Delaware Paralegal Association (DPA)
The Delaware Paralegal Association (DPA) was formed in early 1976 by a small group of eight paralegals who saw the need to establish a professional association.  Today the association has grown to a membership of over 300 and participates as a voting member of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA).

District of Columbia National Capital Area Paralegal Association (NCAPA)
The National Capital Area Paralegal Association (NCAPA) is a voluntary, non-profit organization composed of paralegals interested in furthering their professional development, and we are dedicated to the advancement of the paralegal profession. NCAPA was formed in 1974 by paralegals living or working in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area in response to the growing need for an organized professional association for paralegals.

Florida Dade Association of Legal Assistants (DALA)
The Dade Association of Legal Assistants, Inc. (DALA) was formed in 1979 by a group of legal assistants interested in creating a local organization. Although a State and National Association exists, the legal assistants in Dade County felt the need for a local organization in order to confront the problems of legal assistants in our area, as well as to provide a local forum for ideas and information which would be immediately accessible.

Gainesville Association of Legal Assistants
The Gainesville Association of Paralegals, Inc., is a non-profit corporation dedicated to the promotion of the legal assistant profession, certification through NALA, professional training and networking, and upholding the highest standards of the legal profession.

Northeast Florida Paralegal Association (NEFPA)
Northeast Florida Paralegal Association (formerly Jacksonville Legal Assistants) was formed in October, 1984, to meet the growing need for a local professional association for Jacksonville’s legal assistants. NEFPA, an active participant in the legal community, holds monthly meetings featuring guests who speak on topics of interest to legal assistants.

Northwest Florida Paralegal Association
Northwest Florida Paralegal Association (formerly Pensacola Legal Assistants) was formed on August 12, 1981, to encourage a high order of ethical and professional attainment, further education among members of the profession, establish good fellowship among society members and members of the legal community, and cooperate with the bar association.

Paralegal Association of Florida (PAF)
(formerly Florida Legal Assistants, Inc.)
PAF is a professional association of approximately 1,000 paralegals from around the state of Florida. The Association was incorporated in 1976 as Florida Legal Assistants, Inc. We are proud to distinguish ourselves as paralegals and, through PAF, cultivate the paralegal profession.


Georgia Georgia Association of Paralegals (GAP)
GAP’s purposes remain the same as when first formulated over 25 years ago: to enhance the role of paralegals in the legal profession; to improve the working conditions of paralegals; and to maintain a continuing relationship with bar associations throughout the state.

Hawaii Hawaii Paralegal Association (HPA)
The HPA is a non-profit Hawaii corporation that was formed in 1978 to meet the need for a professional association for paralegals. It continues to be the only such association in Hawaii. HPA is an active participant in the legal community and sponsors regular activities, individually and in conjunction with the State Bar Association and the Hawaii Institute for Continuing Legal Education.

Idaho Idaho Association of Paralegals (IAP)
Established in 1980, the Idaho Association of Paralegals, Inc., is an organization formed to promote the paralegal profession by encouraging a high order of ethics, facilitating network opportunities, and sponsoring continuing legal education. IAP is a statewide membership and addresses statewide issues through membership in the Idaho Alliance of Paralegal Associations.

Illinois Illinois Paralegal Association (IPA)
The Illinois Paralegal Association (IPA) is one of the largest and most active paralegal associations in the country, with 1500 members from all over Illinois and surrounding states. The IPA provides a variety of social activities and educational programs for its members, as well as numerous civic and pro bono services to benefit our communities.

Indiana Indiana Legal Assistants (ILA)
ILA is the only NALA affiliated paralegal organization in Indiana. ILA is committed to serving its membership by keeping members updated on issues that affect their profession via its bi-monthly newsletter, Lex Scripta, and by offering quality continuing legal education seminars, and apprising members of paralegal employment opportunities through its free job bank.

Indiana Paralegal Association (IPA)
The Indiana Paralegal Association, Inc. ("IPA"), an organization serving the paralegals of the State of Indiana, continues to strive to be on the cutting edge of what has become one of the fastest growing professions in the country.

Michiana Paralegal Association (MPA)
The Michiana Paralegal Association ("MPA") recently celebrated its 10th anniversary in September 1999. Since our formation, MPA has matured into a strong paralegal association with nearly 95 members from the northwestern portion of Indiana and southwestern portion of Michigan.

Northeast Indiana Paralegal Association (NIPA)
Our organization began in 1986 as a chapter of the Indiana Paralegal Association ("IPA") which is located in Indianapolis with the intent to break away and form our own chapter when we acquired a substantial number of members. In 1995, this intent became a reality. With almost 100 members, we incorporated our own association, known as Northeast Indiana Paralegal Association, Inc. ("NIPA").


Iowa Iowa Association of Legal Assistants (IALA)
IALA is a non-profit professional association founded in September, 1987, as a result of the consolidation of Paralegals of Iowa, Ltd., (POI) and Iowa Legal Assistants Association (ILAA). Today, IALA is proud to represent members statewide.

Kansas Kansas Association of Legal Assistants (KALA)
KALA is the professional association for Kansas legal assistants. Formed in 1981 and affiliated with the National Association for Legal Assistants, Inc., KALA endorses recognition of a system of professional credentials for legal assistants through certification, legal education, and/or specialized training.

Kansas Paralegal Association (KPA)
The Kansas Paralegal Association, Inc. (KPA) is a nonprofit, professional organization comprised of three districts in the State of Kansas. KPA affirms the paralegal profession as an independent, self-directed profession in affiliation with the National Federation of Paralegal Associations, Inc. (NFPA) and maintains working relationships with state and local bar associations.


Kentucky Kentucky Paralegal Association (KPA)
The need for a state paralegal organization had been recognized for years and the groundwork was laid at the first paralegal Forum held in Louisville, Kentucky in November 1989.  Following the Forum, organizational meetings were held and the Kentucky Paralegal Association (KPA) was officially formed with the filing of the Articles of Incorporation in September, 1990.

Louisiana Louisiana State Paralegal Association (LSPA)
The Louisiana State Paralegal Association, Inc., as the leader of the paralegal profession in Louisiana, is dedicated to the advancement and betterment of the paralegal profession throughout the state of Louisiana and in general. LSPA strives to increase the recognition of the paralegal field by promoting the benefits of effective and increased utilization of paralegals.

New Orleans Paralegal Association (NOPA)
NOPA’s goal is to promote awareness of, and educate the community regarding the effective use of paralegals. We are, and will continue to be, an active participant in the legal community of the metropolitan New Orleans area.


Maine Maine State Association of Legal Assistants
The Maine State Association of Legal Assistants is committed to promoting the legal assistant profession by encouraging a high order of ethics and professionalism, facilitating the exchange of information and ideas, providing continuing educational opportunities within the profession, educating the public about the role of the legal assistant, and demonstrating leadership within our community.

Maryland Maryland Association of Paralegals

Massachusetts Massachusetts Paralegal Association (MPA)
The Massachusetts Paralegal Association, Inc. (MPA) is the oldest professional association for paralegals within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The MPA was organized in 1975 by paralegals in Massachusetts to promote the development of the paralegal profession.

Western Massachusetts Paralegal Association (WMPA)
WMPA is a thriving non-profit organization that is composed of paralegals working in all areas of law in the Western Massachusetts area.

Legal Assistants Association of Michigan (LAAM)
The Legal Assistants Association of Michigan, Inc. (LAAM) was founded in 1978 to provide a professional affiliation for practicing legal assistants throughout the state of Michigan.

Michiana Paralegal Association (MPA)

State Bar of Michigan Legal Assistants Section

Minnesota Minnesota Paralegal Association
The Minnesota Paralegal Association is a non-profit professional association dedicated to fostering the growth and development of the paralegal profession by promoting a high standard of professionalism to the legal community as well as the general public, encouraging communication among paralegals and related organizations, and supporting the ongoing education of paralegals.

Mississippi Mississippi Association of Legal Assistants (MALA)
The Mississippi Association of Legal Assistants, Inc. ("MALA") is a professional organization dedicated to the paralegal profession. We support legal assistants by promoting professional development, education, and the Certified Legal Assistants ("CLA") and Certified Legal Assistant Specialist ("CLAS") examinations.

Missouri Kansas City Paralegal Association (KCPA)
The Kansas City Paralegal Association (KCPA) is a professional association for paralegals in the Kansas City area. Incorporated in 1975, the goals of KCPA are promote, enhance and encourage the development of the paralegal profession, offer opportunities for networking among paralegals on the local, state and national levels, and offer high quality continuing education for paralegals.

St. Louis Association of Legal Assistants (SLALA)
The St. Louis Association of Legal Assistants
(SLALA) is a non-profit association formed to promote the advancement of the legal assistant profession in the St. Louis area through encouragement of high ethical and professional standards and to provide access to information and education for legal assistants, and other legal professionals. SLALA is affiliated with NALA.


Montana Montana Association of Legal Assistants (MALA)
MALA is the only NALA affiliate in Montana. One of the main objectives of MALA is to provide its members with continuing education opportunities.

Nevada Nevada Paralegal Association (NPA)
The Nevada Paralegal Association (NPA) is a professional association for paralegals and legal assistants in the Las Vegas Valley, working together to promote the advancement of the paralegal profession within the legal community by encouraging high professional and ethical standards in the education, training, and employment of paralegals. NPA is affiliated with the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA).

New Hampshire Paralegal Association of New Hampshire (PANH)
The Paralegal Association of New Hampshire is dedicated to the development of the paralegal profession. PANH provides invaluable opportunities for traditional paralegal professional development and networking.

New Jersey Legal Assistants Association of New Jersey (LAANJ)
The Legal Assistants Association of New Jersey, Inc. ("LAANJ") is a non-profit association formed in 1982 to foster and promote uniform educational standards and practice guidelines for the legal assistant. LAANJ also promotes the education of the public for the advancement and improvement of the legal assistant profession.

South Jersey Paralegal Association (SJPA)
South Jersey Paralegal Association (SJPA) is a NJ non profit organization formed in 1980 and incorporated in 1983. SJPA is a member association of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA).  SJPA is composed of paralegals, paralegal students, and paralegal educational institutions in New Jersey.


New Mexico State Bar of New Mexico Paralegal Division
The Legal Assistants Division of the State Bar of New Mexico was formally organized in August 1995 to serve the needs of legal assistants throughout the state.

New York Capital District Paralegal Association (CDPA)
The Capital District Paralegal Association, Inc. (CDPA) was founded in 1993 as the Albany Legal Assistants Association, Inc. Its purpose is to promote communication among paralegals and to promote and improve their image as professionals with the legal community as well as the public. The Association was incorporated in 1995 as a not-for-profit corporation and in 2001 the Association changed its name to the Capital District Paralegal Association, Inc.

Empire State Alliance of Paralegal Associations
On January 30, 1988, five NYS paralegal associations met in Binghamton and formed the "Empire State Alliance of Paralegal Associations" ("ESAPA"). Associations in attendance were from Long Island, Manhattan, Buffalo, Binghamton and Rochester. The statewide alliance arose from the need to strengthen the paralegal profession in NYS through networking.

Manhattan Paralegal Association (MPA)
The Manhattan Paralegal Association, Inc. ("MPA") is a voluntary, not-for-profit professional association formed and incorporated in 1987.

Southern Tier Paralegal Association (STPA)
The Southern Tier Paralegal Association (STPA) was formed in 1980 to promote professional development through continuing legal education and to enhance the recognition of the paralegal profession within the legal community.

Western New York Paralegal Association (WNYPA)
The Western New York Paralegal Association, Inc. (WNYPA) is a voluntary, nonprofit association formed in 1976 to promote the professional development and continuing education of paralegals in the Western New York area. With the goals of the development of the profession and the establishment of a communication network for paralegals, we have now grown to well over two hundred members.

West/Rock Paralegal Association
The West/Rock Paralegal Association is the local paralegal association for the lower Hudson Valley. We are affiliated with the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA) and are members of the Empire State Alliance of Paralegal Associations.


North Carolina North Carolina Bar Association Legal Assistants Division
From this site, you can access information on upcoming CLE programs, join the LAD, find links to websites, and obtain current information on the Division’s activities. There is also a special section for LAD members to access member information. Our goal is for the LAD website to be a useful tool for legal assistants in performing daily tasks and research.

North Carolina Paralegal Association (NCPA)
The NCPA was formed in 1980 to fill the need for a statewide organization to provide its legal assistant/paralegal membership with a continued flow of current national information. NCPA is a self-governing organization run by paralegals for paralegals.


North Dakota Western Dakota Association of Legal Assistants (WDALA)
The Western Dakota Association of Legal Assistants (WDALA) is a non-profit corporation formed in western North Dakota in 1984. As an association of legal assistants, WDALA’s primary goals are continuing education and recognition in the legal field.

Ohio Cincinnati Paralegal Association (CPA)
The Cincinnati Paralegal Association ("CPA") was formed in February of 1982 when a group of Cincinnati paralegals met to develop a network amongst themselves and discuss the roles of paralegals. Since that time, the CPA has matured into a strong paralegal association with nearly 300 members from the Greater Cincinnati Area.

Cleveland Association of Paralegals (CAP)
The Cleveland Association of Paralegals (CAP) is a nonprofit association formed in 1975 dedicated to promoting the professional and ethical development and continuing education of paralegals in the Northeastern Ohio area.

Greater Dayton Paralegal Association (GDPA)
The Greater Dayton Paralegal Association, Inc. (GDPA) was founded in 1984 by paralegals in the Dayton, Ohio area. In 1989 GDPA became affiliated with the National Federation of Paralegal Associations, which represents about 17,000 paralegals nationwide.

Northeastern Ohio Paralegal Association (NOPA)
The Northeastern Ohio Paralegal Association ("NOPA") was incorporated on September 2, 1987, for the purpose of establishing good fellowship among members and the legal community, and to further the interests of both the practicing paralegal and students of the paralegal profession.

Paralegal Association of Central Ohio (PACO)
On September 18, 1995, the association voted to change its name to the Paralegal Association of Central Ohio (PACO) in the belief that the new name more accurately reflects the growing trend to recognize the term "paralegal" as being synonymous with the education, experience and substantive services provided by its membership.


Oklahoma Oklahoma Association of Legal Secretaries (OKALS)
Since 1962, the Oklahoma Association of Legal Secretaries (OKALS) is a professional association dedicated to providing continuing legal education, leadership development, certification, and networking opportunities for legal secretaries, legal assistants, and legal support staff professionals in the State of Oklahoma.

Oregon Oregon Paralegal Association (OPA)
The Oregon Paralegal Association (OPA) is a statewide nonprofit organization, with a Southwest Washington chapter, and was formed in 1979 as the Oregon Legal Assistants Association. OPA is the forefront in meeting the needs of its members and listens to its inner voice (the members themselves) to determine its direction.

Pennsylvania Central Pennsylvania Paralegal Association (CPPA)
The Central Pennsylvania Paralegal Association ("CPPA") was conceived in February of 1984 and became an official non-profit organization in October 1984. The CPPA serves as a forum where professional ideas and concerns of paralegals in all ectors of practice are addressed.

Lancaster Area Paralegal Association (LAPA)
Lancaster Area Paralegal Association is a Pennsylvania nonprofit corporation, which has been serving paralegals and legal assistants in the Lancaster area since 1984. LAPA is a charter member of the Keystone Alliance of Paralegal Associations.

NALS of Pennsylvania
NALS of Pennsylvania provides the opportunity to further the knowledge and enhance the ethical standards and professional attainment of our members; to conduct programs of continuing legal education for members and others in the legal profession; to promote fellowship and cooperation among members and with the legal community.

Pittsburgh Paralegal Association (PPA)
The Pittsburgh Paralegal Association ("PPA") is a voluntary, non-profit association formed in 1977 to promote the professional development and continuing education of paralegals. PPA now has approximately 460 members from the greater Pittsburgh area and receives additional support from affiliate members, area law firms, paralegal training programs and the Allegheny County Bar Association. Members are from all areas of the legal community, including law firms, banks, corporations, hospitals, the public sector and educational institutions.


Rhode Island Rhode Island Paralegal Association (RIPA)
The Rhode Island Paralegal Association (RIPA), incorporated in 1979, is a voluntary non-profit association. It works to enhance the recognition of the paralegal profession within the legal community.

South Carolina Palmetto Paralegal Association
The Palmetto Paralegal Association was formed in 1988 under the name of Columbia Legal Assistant Association. It currently has approximately 200 members, including students enrolled in area paralegal programs.

Tri-County Paralegal Association (TCPA)
TCPA was formed in 1993 by paralegals in Charleston, Dorchester and Berkeley counties interested in advancing the paralegal profession. TCPA has committed itself to achieving this goal by providing networking opportunities, sponsoring continuing education events, and through community service projects.


Tennessee Memphis Paralegal Association (MPA)
The Memphis Paralegal Association ("MPA") was formed in April of 1982 to promote the paralegal profession in Memphis and the surrounding areas; to advance the educational standards of the profession; to educate employers regarding the role of paralegals; and to conduct seminars, research, and handle other work relative to the paralegal profession.

Middle Tennessee Paralegal Association (MTPA)
The Middle Tennessee Paralegal Association ("MTPA") was formed for the purposes of furthering education among members of the paralegal profession; advancing, fostering and promoting the paralegal profession; encouraging a high order of ethical and professional attainment; providing service to the community; and establishing good fellowship among members of the paralegal profession in Nashville, Tennessee and its surrounding areas.

Smoky Mountain Paralegal Association ("SMPA")
The Smoky Mountain Paralegal Association is a nonprofit association formed in 2005 to promote the paralegal profession in East Tennessee to a higher level. SMPA is an affiliated association of the National Association of Legal Assistants, Inc. (NALA), and subscribe to NALA’s Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility. SMPA encourages development of the highest standards of service and ethical conduct in an effort to broaden public understanding of the paralegal profession. SMPA is composed of paralegals working in all areas of the law, students in recognized paralegal educational programs, and supporters of the paralegal profession who are interested not only in furthering their own professional development, but are also dedicated to the advancement of the paralegal profession as a whole.

Tennessee Paralegal Association
TPA is a nonprofit statewide professional association with its membership comprised of persons who are employed as paralegals, students in recognized paralegal educational programs, and supporters of the paralegal profession. TPA sponsors two major seminars each year on a broad range of legal topics. Additionally, monthly meetings are conducted by local chapters in locations throughout the state, giving members the opportunity to hear speakers on a variety on legal issues.


Texas Alamo Area Professional Legal Assistants
As one of the largest legal assistant associations in the State of Texas, AAPLA’s membership is more than 225 members, which are employed by law firms and corporations in the San Antonio area. Throughout the last eighteen years, AAPLA has worked with local bar associations on various projects to promote the legal profession.

Capital Area Paralegal Association (CAPA)
CAPA was organized in 1978. It is a professional association for paralegals and legal assistants in Austin, Texas and surrounding areas. CAPA is affiliated with the National Association of Legal Assistants ("NALA").

Dallas Area Paralegal Association (DAPA)
DAPA is a voluntary nonprofit corporation composed of paralegals working in all areas of the law, who are interested not only in furthering their own professional development, but are also dedicated to the advancement of the paralegal profession as a whole.

Fort Worth Paralegal Association (FWPA)
The purpose of the FWPA is to promote the professional objectives and goals of paralegals, to encourage, promote and conduct programs of continuing education and professional development and to promote the advancement of high standards of integrity and professionalism for paralegals to the end that both the public and the legal profession are better served.

Houston Legal Assistants Association
The Houston Legal Assistants Association is the largest legal assistant association in the State of Texas and is in the top five of the largest metropolitan legal assistant associations in the United States. It is a non-profit organization and has more than 975 members.

Legal Assistants Division of the State Bar of Texas
The official website for the Legal Assistants Division of the State Bar of Texas. Formed in 1981, the Division was the first Legal Assistant organization to be affiliated with a state Bar Association.

Legal Assistants of North Texas Association (LANTA)
The Legal Assistants of North Texas Association, an affiliated association of the National Association of Legal Assistants, Inc. (NALA), and located in Dallas, Texas, is dedicated to the advancement and betterment of the legal assistant profession by promoting the benefits of effective and increased utilization of legal assistants.
Legal Assistants of North Texas Association promotes high ethical standards for its membership and supports a voluntary national certification to identify legal assistants and/or paralegals who have demonstrated a high degree of competency in the profession and promotes continuing legal education for its members. Legal Assistants of North Texas Association is dedicated to providing a network of professional support to legal assistants in their careers.

Metroplex Association of Corporate Paralegals ("MACP")
MACP was formed in 1997 to promote and encourage the professional objectives and goals of paralegals for in-house counsel in the Dallas-Forth Worth area. MACP strives to provide programs of continuing education and development and to encourage high standards of integrity and professionalism. MACP members meet quarterly at various local corporations and annually in November.

North East Texas Association of Legal Assistants (NTALA)
NTALA is a non-profit paralegal association organized to promote the legal assistant profession in the State of Texas and the East Texas area.

Southeast Texas Association of Paralegals (SETAP)
SETAP (formerly known as SETALA) was organized in 1980 by four legal assistants, two of whom were Certified Legal Assistants (CLAs). It is a professional association for paralegals and legal assistants in Southeast Texas. SETAP is affiliated with the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) and the Texas Alliance of Paralegal Associations (TAPA).

Texas ALS
Texas ALS was chartered in 1954 and is a chartered state association of NALS… the association for legal professionals, a nonunion, nonpartisan, nonpolitical and nonprofit professional, educational association.


Utah

Utah Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Paralegal Association
The Utah Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Paralegal Association was established in an effort to better serve the paralegal profession within the State of Utah. RMPA based in Denver, was formed on October 2, 1973, to serve the paralegal profession in the Rocky Mountain region. RMPA is an affiliate member of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations. The Legal Assistants Association of Utah
The Legal Assistants Association of Utah (LAAU) is Utah’s affiliate to the National Association of Legal Assistants. LAAU is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing further education, establishing standards of professional and ethical conduct, and aiding in the advancement of employment opportunities for legal assistants and paralegals in the state of Utah. Vermont Vermont Paralegal Organization (VPO)

Virginia Richmond Paralegal Association
The Richmond Paralegal Association (RPA) is a non-profit corporation formed in Virginia in 1982. As an association of legal assistants/paralegals, our primary goals are continuing education and recognition in the legal field. Our membership consists of legal assistants/paralegals, legal professionals and educators from the City of Richmond and the surrounding metropolitan areas.

VALS
VALS…the association for legal professionals was organized in 1962 and now has 11 local associations throughout Virginia with a membership of approximately 300 persons engaged in work of a legal nature.


Washington NALS of Washington
NALS Of Washington was organized in 1964 and is a chartered state association of NALS, a nonunion, nonpartisan, and nonprofit association.  We offer legal education and professional enhancement at various locations around the state throughout the year.

Washington State Paralegal Association (WSPA)
The Washington State Paralegal Association (WSPA) is a nonprofit organization formed in 1975 to support and promote the paralegal profession, and to provide a forum for addressing the paralegal needs, interests and responsibilities in the State of Washington.


West Virginia Association of West Virginia Paralegals
The Association of West Virginia Paralegals (AWVP) was organized in 1982 by a group of legal assistants in the Charleston-Huntington areas. This organization was the result of a need for an organized educational and professional association for legal assistants.

Wisconsin Madison Area Paralegal Association
The Madison Area Paralegal Association is a strong group of paralegals in Dane County, Wisconsin. Our primary purpose is to provide substantive legal and professional education opportunities and to promote the paralegal profession within our legal community.

Paralegal Association of Wisconsin
The Paralegal Association of Wisconsin, Inc. is a statewide organization dedicated to the advancement of the paralegal profession. The Association is a not-for-profit corporation founded in 1978.
